As we mentioned here before, Vivaldi team in Iceland works out of Innovation House in Iceland, which is a co-working space for startups. Jon also started Innovation House in Magnolia near Boston.
Yesterday evening, I was invited to an event hosted by Innovation House Silicon valley in Palo Alto, California, which is pretty close to where I live.
The event was to celebrate the launch of the Nordic Innovation House, joint effort between all Scandinavian governments (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland) and institutions to support startups from Scandinavia here in Silicon Valley.
I think this is a good initiative. It helps to lower the barriers for startups to come here and experiment. This is how Silicon Valley keeps reinventing itself, bringing new people from around the world to constantly challenge the status quo.
It was cool to see the energy but it was also fun to see some people I knew from before, some old colleagues from Opera, as well as meeting some new very interesting people.
I look forward to seeing more of those.
