My Indian neighbour

I have an old Indian lady as my neighbor. She is by far the sweetest neighbor I’ve ever had fortune to live by.

Often times, she gives us a shout over the fence or call us on the phone asking if we want a cup of tea.

She makes great Indian Chai tea typically served with some sort of Indian snack, which is delicious.

The other night, she saw me working with a handyman in my garage installing cabinet around dinner time.

So, she came in with some Indian food both for me and the handy man as she thought we must be hungry and knew my family is out of town 🙂

What a great neighbour! She truly is a sweet person.

What’s more? She is not the only nice neighbor I live by. Family across the street, their kids come to our house once in a while to play with our kids, feeding our dog when we are away. We sometimes carpool our kids. The people next to our house are also very nice people. There is a park nearby where I walk my dog and meet lots of other dog owners in the neighbourhood. I enjoy this walk partly because of the conversation we have every evening with our neighbours. It has been little more than a year since I moved here but I am really liking here.

Maybe it was just me, but I haven’t had this much of interaction with my neighbor in places I lived before. In Tokyo, I didn’t even see their faces, let alone striking conversation.

I feel very fortunate. Good sense of community and people looking after each other.

Amazon’s interesting return policy – no return needed

Last week, I purchased a few running gears on amazon.com to replace some of the retiring items that served me for years diligently.

As usual, products were delivered quickly and I was happy to try them on.

Two of the items fit perfectly fine but a pair of running pants was too large for my size, unfortunately.

So, I decided to return that item and logged back into amazon to process the return.

After selecting the products and filling a short form, to my surprise, I was told that I don’t need to return the item.

They say “It’s on us. You keep the item and refund is on it way back to your account.”

Really?… that’s interesting. I mean it’s not an expensive item but still.

Maybe, it has been always like this but I never experienced this myself. I assume writing that item off is cheaper than processing the return for amazon. Not needing to bring the item to nearest shipping location is convenient for sure.

But being left with an oversized pants that don’t fit isn’t particularly winning situation either… I guess it can be donated to some charity…
